According to Compass, despite a challenging national market, the company has delivered impressive growth in the first quarter of 2025, reinforcing why so many buyers and sellers continue to trust our innovative approach to real estate.
Compass Outpaces the Market: Strong Growth in Q1 2025
In the first three months of 2025, Compass achieved $1.4 billion in revenue, marking a 28.7% increase compared to the same period last year. To put this into perspective, while the overall U.S. residential market saw a 2.1% decline in transactions, Compass transactions surged 27.8%. This speaks volumes about the strength of our platform, the dedication of our agents, and the trust of our clients.
A key driver of this growth was the strategic acquisition of Christie’s International Real Estate, which contributed to both revenue growth and an expanded global reach — enhancing our ability to serve luxury buyers and sellers at the highest level.
Operational Excellence: More Agents, More Success Stories
The number of principal agents at Compass has grown to 20,656, a 41.6% year-over-year increase. But it’s not just about size; it’s about quality. Our agent retention rate of 96.6% speaks to the value Compass provides its professionals — which, in turn, benefits every client we serve.
Market Share Growth: Compass Continues to Lead
In Q1 2025, Compass expanded its national market share to 6%, a significant increase from last year. Organic growth (excluding acquisitions) accounted for 82 basis points of that rise. This steady climb shows that even in a shifting market, Compass is gaining ground — because what we offer resonates with modern homeowners and buyers.
Delivering Real Results: Transactions & Value
In Q1 2025, Compass agents closed 49,121 transactions, up 27.8% from last year. In contrast, the national market saw fewer deals. This means Compass is helping more clients succeed, even when market conditions are less than ideal.
Our Gross Transaction Value (GTV) reached $52.4 billion, a 31% increase, showing not just more sales, but higher-value sales — an important metric for sellers aiming to maximize their returns.

One of the reasons Compass stands out is our 3-Phased Price Discovery and Marketing Strategy. This method — starting with a Private Exclusive, moving to Coming Soon, and then launching publicly — has proven to deliver superior results for sellers.
In Q1 2025, nearly 48.2% of homeowners listing with Compass used this strategy, helping avoid unnecessary price drops and reducing time on market. On average:
- Listings using this approach received offers 20% faster.
- Only 13% experienced price reductions, compared to 19% without pre-marketing.
- Homes sold using this strategy achieved a 2.9% higher closing price.
- For a home valued at $1 million, that’s an added $29,000 in your pocket — simply by leveraging smarter marketing.
